BUFFALO, N.Y., NOVEMBER 6, 2023 – Vaughan Baio & Partners (VBP) welcomed Serena R. David as Partner in the firm’s Buffalo office, which was opened earlier this year in March by Danielle S. Engel. Both Partners focus their practice on workers’ compensation defense. This is VBP’s fourth office in New York State; other N.Y. locations include Albany, New York City and Syracuse. In addition, the firm’s footprint includes offices Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
“I’m excited to join Vaughan Baio and my colleague Danielle Engel in this entrepreneurial effort to grow the firm’s presence in Western New York,” said David. “Having worked in the Buffalo region for a decade now, we understand what our clients need and appreciate most regarding legal services,” Engel said. “Our goal is to always be the most responsive and to provide the most strategic counsel to our clients in every matter,” she continued. Both attorneys joined from Goldberg Segalla.
Serena David has garnered workers’ compensation litigation experience representing clients throughout New York State. She represents employers in the retail and hospitality industries as well as insurance carriers and third-party administrators. David has been successful in obtaining multiple findings of section 114-a violations and was able to obtain permanent disqualifications to future benefits after proving the claimant had made material misrepresentations.
Danielle Engel has extensive experience representing insurance carriers, third-party administrators and self-insured employers in a variety of workers’ compensation claims, including hearings before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board, drafting and submitting appeals, and deposing medical professionals and claimants. Danielle successfully defended a claim for years of reduced earnings, which saved her client hundreds of thousands of dollars. She has also litigated complex opiate medication issues that reduced the cost of Medicare Set Asides for her client.
