Philadelphia, June 13, 2022 – Vaughan Baio & Partners continues its growth momentum as it announces the addition of three new attorneys. Partner Debra Doby will be practicing in New York; Partner Ken Kaup will be based in Newark N.J.; and Associate Kevin Connell will be based in Syracuse, N.Y. This follows the news in late May that eight attorneys – five partners and three associates – had joined across the firm’s footprint in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Vaughan Baio & Partners, a dynamic and collaborative firm that launched mid-pandemic, is gaining the attention of successful attorneys (and practice groups) considering their next career moves.
“We are very pleased to welcome Debra, Ken and Kevin — three successful, experienced and ambitious attorneys to our firm,” said Co-Founding Partner Joe Vaughan. “We remain committed to bringing together the most talented attorneys, in a collaborative environment that empowers us to achieve results that positively impact our clients.”
“From the beginning, our goal has been to create a new kind of firm,” said Co-Founding Partner Madeline Baio, “where we love what we’re doing and strive every day to deliver the most strategic and effective representation for our clients. It’s rewarding to have such skilled and talented attorneys as Debra, Ken and Kevin joining us in this endeavor.”
Debra Doby concentrates her practice on New York workers’ compensation matters, opioid and cannabis litigation, and all aspects of complex construction matters, pre-litigation through trial. Debra works closely with small and large employers and insurers to develop innovative risk management programs to reduce risk of work place injuries or exposure to communicable diseases, to identify and to reduce claim exposure.
Ken Kaup brings more than a decade of experience handling workers’ compensation matters from inception through trial and appeal. Ken gained significant experience while working on behalf of in-house counsel for a large national insurance carrier.
As outside counsel, Ken has represented major retailers and companies in the automotive, banking, building and supply, food and beverage, grocery, and restaurant industries. He also defends smaller employers, third-party administrators and municipalities against a variety of workers’ compensation claims.
Kevin Connell represents clients in issues related to labor and employment, education and public sector matters. He has experience representing dozens of public school districts throughout New York State. Kevin is also an accomplished writer. He is the author of two books on higher education reform: Degrees of Deception: America’s For-Profit Higher Education Fraud and Breaking Point: The College Affordability Crisis & Our Next Financial Bubble.
