PHILADELPHIA, APRIL 5, 2024 – Vaughan Baio & Partners announced that well-known and highly respected Judge Francis J. Orlando, Jr., A.J.S.C. (Retired) has joined to launch the firm’s new Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice group. Orlando joins as Of Counsel and will be reunited with his former colleague, George W. Matteo, who joined from Connell Foley last month to establish the new commercial transactions and real estate practice. The attorneys are based in the firm’s new Cherry Hill, New Jersey office.
“With the continued growth of ADR in New Jersey, the timing seemed right to connect with Judge Orlando and welcome him into our firm to launch this burgeoning new practice,” said Managing Partner Joe Vaughan. “His impeccable integrity and breadth of legal knowledge makes his counsel invaluable in reaching resolutions in disputed matters. We know he will be a tremendous asset to our clients as well as the attorneys at our firm.”
“I am excited to join the team,” said Judge Orlando. “Vaughan Baio is a dynamic firm, which provides first-class legal services for its clients. It is a privilege to be the firm’s newest addition to the South Jersey team. I look forward to providing excellent ADR services to attorneys and their clients as the firm continues to expand into new practice areas.”
Orlando spent 20 years as a judge in the Camden Vicinage – one of the New Jersey Superior Court’s largest and busiest divisions. In this role, Orlando presided over hundreds of complex matters including products liability, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, land use and zoning law, eminent domain, government disputes, employment, and election law cases. After rising to the role of senior partner in private practice, Orlando was first appointed to the bench in 1991. He was the Presiding Judge of the Civil Division in Camden before stepping into the role of Assignment Judge, which he held for 16 years.
