PHILADELPHIA, P.A., February 8, 2024 – Vaughan Baio & Partners welcomes three new partners, expanding their New Jersey presence and establishing a down state New York office on Long Island, N.Y. Charli Baldinger joins to focus on growing the workers’ compensation team in the New York metro region; Justin R. Callow joins in Newark, expanding the team in central New Jersey; and George W. Matteo Jr., who joins from Connell Foley, will establish the firm’s new Cherry Hill office. Ms. Baldinger was previously in practice with Terry Katz and Associates and Mr. Callow joins from Malamut Law.
“The New Year is off to a great start with the addition of these three talented attorneys,” said Managing Partner Joe Vaughan. “Charli and Justin bring their well-rounded experience to our workers’ compensation practice and George brings his expertise in real estate and commercial lending, significant new areas of focus across our footprint.”
Charli Baldinger brings a 360-degree perspective to her workers’ compensation practice having represented injured workers as well as self-insured employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators. She has extensive experience representing clients in the retail, food and beverage, hospitality, and grocery industries, as well as clients facing complex construction workers’ compensation matters.
Justin Callow brings a unique understanding of the thought processes and goals of both his clients and adversaries, having represented clients on both sides of the workers’ compensation equation. He has litigated a variety of workers’ compensation motions related to issues of causation, liability and fraud. Justin currently represents employers, self-insureds and insurance carriers.
George W. Matteo, Jr. has more than 30 years of experience in commercial transactions, real estate, land use, zoning, corporate law and finance in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. In addition to his private land development practice, George has also served as solicitor to numerous planning and zoning boards throughout New Jersey. He was the founder of a publicly traded community based commercial bank in New Jersey, and spent five years as its CEO. That experience strengthened his representation of borrowers and lenders, in traditional debt financing, securitized financing and tax-free bond financing involving banks, insurance companies, private equity and finance companies. George has built a track record over many years representing parties in both buy and sell transactions, land development, redevelopment, and highly specialized land use litigation. He has handled numerous affordable housing cases throughout the state, residential development, commercial and retail development, rezoning, power generation facilities, Brownfields development and Pinelands development and regulation.
