Biography
Richard McMenamin is a highly experienced courtroom lawyer who has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for corporate clients in a variety of commercial disputes, including major claims against insurers and reinsurers. He also has defended corporate clients in a wide variety of matters, including, contract, tort, product liability, intellectual property, medical malpractice, directors and officers liability, securities, construction, and personal injury lawsuits. He has appeared in state and federal courts throughout the country over the past 45 years. His practice with the firm focuses on complex claims against corporations and individuals, including fraud, professional liability and tort claims.
Richard has volunteered his legal services throughout his career, including representing prisoners in civil rights cases. He has also represented Special Olympics Pennsylvania, one of the largest chapters of Special Olympics International, and has served as a member of its board of directors.

Representative Matters
- National hospital management company — First-party coverage for hurricane losses
Obtained more than $300 million for the company for losses incurred at multiple hospitals, which allowed the hospitals to resume operations. Represents the company in a variety of claims arising out of alleged medical malpractice. - World’s largest commercial airline — September 11 insurance coverage claims
Successfully litigated at trial and on appeal in the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court the airline’s entitlement to more than $100 million in coverage from London market reinsurers, and advised the company on various September 11 legal issues in federal court, thereby helping the airline avoid bankruptcy proceedings. - Directors and Officers Liability—Multiple insurance claims
Represented multiple clients in litigations resulting in millions of dollars in coverage for claims against directors and officers, including $90 million on behalf of an officer of a major insurance company and $25 million for a major national bank.
