Biography
Jessica M. Blydenburgh has nearly 20 years of experience defending employers, self-insured companies, third party administrators, and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation matters. Licensed in New York and Florida, Jess manages all aspects of litigation, including discovery, trials, appeals, and negotiating settlements. She counts municipalities and government entities among her clients and is skilled at formulating comprehensive defense strategies on behalf of insurance carriers and employers in the construction, retail, manufacturing and distribution, transportation, and healthcare industries.
Some of Jess’ most notable wins include implementation of mandatory and discretionary penalties following WCL §114-a fraud findings; disallowances based on a lack of an employer-employee relationship as well as of jurisdiction, resulting in claim dismissal; and the successful defense of occupational disease and repetitive trauma claims for public entity clients.
In addition to her practice, Jess is also an adjunct professor of legal studies at South University. She regularly teaches classes in workers’ compensation, legal ethics, advanced legal research and writing, torts, and evidence. Outside of work, Jess enjoys traveling and spending time with her children.
